Woodbridge Ambient Music Festival 2023

"I wanted to say just how glad I am that ambient music has come back to Woodbridge" - Brian Eno 2022

ABOUT
The river and light of Woodbridge inspires many artists, poets, writers, and musicians. For the second year running the Autumn Equinox weekend of 22nd-24th September 2023 celebrated the town’s link to ambient music.
We welcomed ambient, electronic musicians, visual artists and visitors from all over the UK to enjoy an inspiring weekend with a genre of music that has its roots in this area.
Events were held in the Longshed, Whisstocks Place, the Octagon Room and the Community Hall. The beautiful River Deben glistened as centre place for the weekend with walks, poetry and music along its banks.
So, what is Ambient Music?
It is often described as ‘Music to quiet your thoughts’ and ‘Music that doesn’t get in the way.’ Recently the NHS suggested relaxation techniques including ambient music, that can help relieve stress and gain a sense of well-being. Brian Eno, known as the ‘Father of Ambient Music’ and born in Woodbridge, said it was 'Music intended to induce calm and a space to think.'
We celebrated all artists, poets and musicians drawn by the ebb and flow of the river, the ambience and spirit of place.
